Oracle Database Administrator

The Oracle Database Administrator is a key member of a development effort. The DBA has the opportunity to solve challenging technical issues and advance the mission of a key government customer.

  • Develops infrastructure database routines to support application code
  • Provides day-to-day database support on existing, operational databases that are already in operation, to include troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of performance and storage issues on legacy/future databases
  • Ensures software code and databases initialize, execute and terminate as specified in the certification and accreditation process for the Agency
  • Provides support and service to organizations Window and Sun servers (installing security patches; COTs software) and other non-operating system software
  • Integrates and supports client-server based COTS database tables interfacing with Government database tables
  • Develops and maintain top-level design and detailed-level designs for the databases (GOTS and COTS); documenting database designs
  • Analyzes ideas and methods, and documenting database design solutions in response to: functional requirements, non-functional requirements, security requirements, and system requirements for new database tables and/or the modification or enhancement of existing database tables in requests for change
  • Researches and develop technology to ensure that software and networks are free of security defects and vulnerabilities
  • Document and deliver data models/entity relationship diagrams/UML class models contextual, conceptual, logical and physical models including entity and attribute definitions
  • Ensures that all the software requirements are allocated from the software components to software units. The detailed design of interfaces will permit coding without the need for further information. The detailed design will be documented
  • Transforms system requirements for software items into an architecture that describes its top-level structure and identifies the software components. Ensure that all the requirements for software items are allocated to its software components and further refined to facilitate detailed design
  • Installs and tesst GOTS and COTS software releases on development, stage, and operational platforms
  • Installs and upgrades database server and database tools, ensure data/media recoverability through system back up and database archive operations, and monitor backups for the servers
